New York - Day 4

Friday in New York was one of my favourite days, personally, and it was our last full day. My roommate and I decided one of the things we wanted to do while In New York was, to see a broadway show. I've never seen a broadway show before and my friend loves them so we couldn't not.

We headed into times Square early to be able to buy tickets for that night. My advice to anymore who is going to New York and wants to see a show is to go to the theatre of that particular show that you wish to see on the day to buy a ticket early morning. You will find the best and cheapest price. We decided we wanted to see Finding Neverland as it was a reasonable price at full price and Peter pan and finding Neverland is one of my person favourite books and tales.

We were extremely lucky to be able to get the last two tickets for the show at only $37! I think my mouth must have fell open when he told me the price as I was expecting so much more!
After getting our tickets we were over joyed and decided to wander back to the hotel making a couple of stops into different shops along the way.

We went into Victoria Secret near our hotel. When we had gone for dinner the night before one of the girls had told me about a fantastic deal that they were offering which I hadnt noticed when I'd been in before. If you bought any one of there sports bras you would receive a free pair of leggings at your choice. Now am not a gym/sport kind of girl. I'll admit that but, Comfy cute leggings to wear around the house I am all about. I managed to find a cute sports bra for only $30 and picked my pair of leggings. After leaving I realised the leggings I had picked were meant to be $70 dollars, total bargain in my eyes.

After wondering for a bit longer we headed back to the hotel as our course was going to FIT to see two incredible exhibitions. A denim exhibition and a fantasy fairytale exhibition. Both were inspiring and beautiful. In very different ways. My favourite was the fairytale exhibition.

After, we wondered to the empire state building to see the view from the observation deck. I do prefer the view from the top of the rock but theres nothing better then being able to say you've been at the top of the empire state building and the view is still spectacular.

Lastly was the broadway show. Our seats were amazing and the show did not disappoint. It was breath taking. It had me laughing, crying and walking away with the biggest smile on my face and a few tears. I would recommend it to anyone even if you aren't a massive peter pan fan the story is beautiful and told in such a magical way.

One last look of time square at night time and a sit on the famous red steps and we head back to the hotel to rest before our long journey ahead on the Saturday.

Speak to you guys tomorrow,

New York - Day 3

Hey guys, Thursday in New York was a 'educational' day for us. We went on a garment tour at mood fabrics (which totally made me just want to get out my sew machine out) learning about different parts of the industry, different peoples careers and how everything adapts and fits together.
Although the tour was talking about a lot of careers that didn't apply to our course, it was very interesting and eye opening. I loved listening to other peoples stories and the growth of their careers in the fashion industry.

While on the tour we meet the inspirationally fashion bloggers The 'wanderlustgirls'. I could have listened to them talking to hours about there journey and all the amazing things that they have done in there career as fashion bloggers.
Blogging is something that has always made me want to be in the fashion industry so to be able to see these two ordinary girls create a amazing career through it is, I found it truly inspiring.

we finished pretty later afternoon so decided to just spend the rest of the day wondering around, eating and shopping. We made a pit stop at the urban outfitters cafe on broadway where I had the most amazing cheese toasty.

After we explored Macys, Victoria Secret, Footlocker and of course Sephora, again. We headed back to the hotel early all shattered and then meet up with a few of the girls from our university course. I can't remember what the place we ate at was called but, it was just off 5th avenue and they sold the best pizza and pasta that was so cheap.

Hope you enjoyed this post,

New York - Day 2

Wednesday was a bit of a weird day in New York. I was exhausted and my two room mates had plans with there friends who live in the city. I decided to wonder around in the morning and then meet up with the girls in the afternoon.

I thought since I was in America I had to visit a american drugstore and pick up some pieces that you can't get in the UK. I went into Walgreens on times square and CVS near our hotel. I only bought three things the products there were more expensive then I thought they would have been.

I couldn't not pick up the famous Maybelline colour tattoo in' bad to the bronze'. I have heard so many american bloggers and youtube talking so much about this product so I was so exited to get my hands on it.
I also picked up the wet and wild palette called 'walking on eggshells'. I can't believe how inexpensive this little palette is and how amazing the quality is.
Lastly, I've heard great things about the l'oreal Infallible eyeshadows and fell in love with the colour bronzed taupe. Which can I just say, is the mostly beautiful shade.

After that I wondered into time square and did a little bit of shopping. The forever 21 is amazing, with 4 floors and get visual merchandising.
I also wanted to visit the Cupcake ATM from sprinkles.

I cant believe they have a cupcake ATM. As they always say, only in America. All you had to do is choice you cupcake and then swipe your card. I didn't take my card to New York but I couldn't resist buying a cupcake from the famous Sprinkles.

I picked the red velvet and it was the best cupcake i've ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot). Its making my mouth water.
Later I meet my friend and went down to SOHO for a wonder and a shop. I didn't take any photos as it was to cold but i did go into my first Brandy Melville store and I loved it.
I may have made a few cheeky purchases because there clothes are just so soft. I could leave without!
Later we headed into times square again and ate at the hard rock cafe which is one of my personal favourite restaurants.

Hope you enjoyed this post.
Come back tomorrow to see what I got up to in New York next,

A week in new york

Hey guys, I feel like its been ages since I blogged, when it was actually only a week ago.
As you know I was in New York last week and I had the best time ever.

Is is as magical as you expected it was going to be?
Yeah.

It can't not take your breath away. It looks exactly like what you see on the films or see in the movies. You feel important while walking down the streets and lucky to experience such a incredible place.
I thought every day this week I would post a dairy of my time in New York as it was this time last week that I wrote last.

Our Tuesday was a pretty crazy day. We went to the observation deck at the Rockefeller centre.
The view from there is the most incredible thing. You can literally see everything and when the see the  view of the Empire State Building. Its breath taking and something thats hard to describe.

After, we decided to walk up to central park and have a wonder around there. I wanted to go to strawberry fields to see the imagine john Lennon memorial which is very beautiful.

When we went to the memorial someone had placed flowers in the shape of a peace sign around the writing which I thought was lovely and had never seen before.
We also visited the belvedere castle In central park as that is where the Smurfs was filmed and you can see a lovely view once you get to the top of the hill of the rest of the park.

Although, as you can see on this photo, I was frozen. Once we had taken some photos we went to the MET. I wanted a picture of the famous gossip girl stairs and of course to go into the beautiful museum. If you think New York can't take you breath away anymore, you just wait until you step into the MET. Every exhibition is incredible.

My favourite was the Jacqueline De Ribes exhibition called the art of style. the exhibition focused on the internationally renowned style icon countess jacqueline de Ribes. I won't talk to much about it though as I'd love to do a whole blog post dedicated to her and the exhibition.

Jacqueline de Ribes, ca. 1960-63

After walking around all day we were pretty tired and decided to head back to the hotel. When I say head back to the hotel, I do in fact mean. walking down 5th avenue and spending some of the dollars we had saved in the amazing shops down there. I will be posting a New York haul soon but of course Sephora was one of the main places I ran into. I think I could lived in that shop.

I hope you enjoyed this post.
Come back tomorrow to see what I got up to the next day.

The big apple

So I am sat in a hotel room. At 6am. Not being able to sleep because i'm in NEW YORK CITY!
What?! it still doesn't feel real. Even when walking through times square last night it didn't feel real.

Today we are spending the day going to the Rockefeller centre, central park and of course shopping and eating plenty of food! Last night we were all exhausted from the long trip so decided to take a little trip to times square and eat food at plant Hollywood. Also taking a little detour to Sephora on the way back where some small purchases were made.

New York is the dream of all cities. A city that never sleeps and is constantly breathtaking. New York is always a dream and thanks to my university course, I am able to visit once more. It is offered to every first year student, we have to pay, to go and explore the amazing city as part of our first individual project.

There is so many things I want to do while am here so I thought I'd share my top 10 list of things I want to do while I'm here:

1. Rockefeller center.
2.Guggenheim Art museum.
3.Central park.
4.Eat cheesecake from grand central station (Because its the best)
5.Buy a cupcake from a ATM.
6.Watch a broad way show
7.Visit the 9/11 memorial.
8.Go and see the madness of china town.
9.Go up the Empire State building at night
10. And of course shop until I drop or my suitcase breaks.

If I can achieve all of that this in one week, I'll be a very happy lady.
Am sure there will be many posts up over the next few weeks of my trip and this beautiful city but if you want to check out my trip while am in the big apple head over to my Instagram (Leahblenkinship).

Until next time,

Somewhere you wouldn't expect to look

After christmas hits, so do all the sales. I'm never that impressed with the sales now a days. It seems to be totally different stock which hasn't been in the current season. I did pick up a few things in the Topshop sale, of course, but one of my best finds this year was this pair of boots.

Me and my mum went shopping a few days after christmas day. Normally am not interested in going christmas sale shopping as it is always madness, I normally go on christmas eve when its a little quieter, but I decided to go and see if there was anything interesting.

These boots were such a good find. They have a 70s twist to them and of course the colour is amazing.I love the gorgeous berry colour as they are a little different but will go with a lot of things in my, very monochrome, wardrobe.

They are from a place I would never shop before or think to shop, Marks and Spencer's. Apart from for food or to walk through, I never go into marks and spencer. On this day I was just walking through to get out of the cold and these caught the corner of my eye. I just had to have them as they were on sale for only eighteen pounds. Eighteen pounds for a pair of shoes, you can't really go wrong!

Marks and Spencers have been stepping up there game a lot more recently to bring in new customers and to steer away from there typical target market of the 'older' generation. I have to say I think they are on to something at the moment and I shall be walking through to actually have a look around, not just to stay warm.

Have you had any good sale buys?

2015 Memories

It feels like only five minutes ago that we were celebrating the new year of 2015 and now we seem to be in 2016 and I can't really understand where this past year has gone. So much has changed in this past year and I have had so many amazing memories with the people I love most in this world. so here are some of my memories of 2015.

1. Getting into university
Getting into University was one of my biggest things that happened to me this year. I decided I know longer wanted to do health and social care anymore. Fashion was my true passion and I wanted a career in this industry. I never thought it would have been possible but I got into the three universities I applied for,  Nottingham Trent being my first choice and the one I am now gladly at.

2. Completing my diploma in health and social care
Some people many say that going to college is a easier option then going to sixform. My two years at college provided this to be very very wrong. It is one of the hardest things I've ever done and completing my diploma after two years, walking away with distinction* distinction* distinction* was amazing! College was a hard time for me and the work was very difficult but I would redo it all over over again if I could. I will never forget it or regret it for that matter. I meet one of my best friends there who I couldn't be without now.

3.Blogging
Blogging is something that I love and always will love but sometimes its hard to get the time or the motivation  to do it. Now I am at uni I am expected to have my blog as part of my work to help express myself and my work. I love having my own little tiny part of the internet even if no one reads it and i'm just talking rubbish. I can't wait to keep writing this year.

4. Being independent
I've always been a very independent person but moving so far away from home and from my little country life has taught me to be even more. Taking control of my money and spending. Cooking my own meals (which I did anyways) but having to figure out what i'm going to eat and if I can afford that food. just having to rely on myself. Taking care of myself when i'm ill. Washing my own clothes. Its all part of being independent and living away from home and I have to say, I have loved every minute of it! There nothing better then acting and doing things for yourself.

5. Making new friends.
This year I have made some of my best friends which I couldn't live without. People at university and at home. I've always had a close small group of friends and this year I have grown and meet some amazing people.

I have to admit university isn't as sociable as I thought it would be but I have a amazing flat and some amazing girls on my course which have made a amazing first term at NTU. I can't wait to keep meeting new people and friends in my first year.

6.Being more confident
I have definitely became more myself and more confident this year. I feel like I have really found myself this year. There is so many things I have done which I didn't think I could ever do like go on a  date with a stranger or do a big presentation on my own, even just going to university. I never thought I'd actually make it but now I don't want to be anywhere else.

7. Learning when I need 'me' time
I am someone who needs my own time. Away from everyone else to be able to think and sort my head out. This year I went on my first holiday alone, well sort of. Without my mum or my friends and it was one of the best things I have done this year. I gave me head space. Time to think and get over some of the heartbreaks in the first half of the year to then let go and move on.

I have to say, to some people it may sound like nothing but to me, 2015 has been one of the best years of my life so far. One of the hardest but one of the best. I have became myself and learnt a hell of a lot. Without everything that happened this year I wouldn't be the person I am today so I am thankful for that. I've spend the year with some of the most amazing people who I love very much and am so thankful to have in my life. I can't wait to see what 2016 has to offer!

Lots of love
